In May of 2016 Council of the Town of Huntsville approved a design for an in-water art sculpture donation, on condition that federal navigable waters (who have jurisdiction of the Muskoka River channel) approved. The approval was granted by the Department of Transport, Canada. The donor had the sculpture physically fabricated and placed in the river as per the draft design to council. The sculpture is designed to float in water, only.

Following the installation of the sculpture, now known as “Pipe Man”, negative comment was received.

The donor may move the sculpture at his cost only if a mutually acceptable alternate location can be found, which is publically supported. The donor is not legally required to move it under the donor agreement. If a mutually acceptable alternate location beyond what was previously accepted by council cannot be found, do you support moving and/or discarding the sculpture at taxpayers cost, estimated to be about 10K.
